The first Amazing Joe’s opened in early 2008 in Muncie, IN by a group of 3 guys with a combined total of 50 plus years of experience in casual dining. We were certain that we could provide the highest quality cuts of aged beef for a price that any average joe like us can afford. Our steaks and service are undeniably the best in the casual dining industry… we guarantee it! If you are not completely satisfied with your event for any reason, it’s on us. We feel by doing this we improve the look of the older buildings and immediately become a good neighbor in any town. We purposely only have 4 or 5 TV’s in our bar areas and no neon’s or memorabilia decorations as we are not trying to compete with the many great sports bars out there. Over 70 years ago, Burt Baskin and Irv Robbins had the crazy idea of offering 31 flavors of ice cream when everyone else was still selling vanilla, chocolate and strawberry. Burt and Irv were absolutely nuts about ice cream (Irv even had a swimming pool shaped like an ice cream cone). OUR STORY IS TOLD IN EVERY SLICE. In 1979, Bob McDonald and Ron Epple founded Chicago’s Pizza. They started with a simple formula that consisted of quality ingredients and a dedication to excellence. With their key ingredients of daily handmade dough, freshly made pizza sauce and high quality cheese and toppings, they perfected the craft of the same quality pizza that customers enjoy today. After developing their pizza formula, they established their first Chicago’s Pizza in Beech Grove, Ind., in 1979. This location instantly became a staple in the town and high demand bolstered their growth into other successful locations. Bob and Ron realized that the secret wasn’t just in their pizza sauce, but also in the owners of their Chicago’s Pizza restaurants. Knowing this, they created a business model in which owner/operators would oversee each location. In doing so, they established the Chicago’s Pizza family. The pizza family quickly grew and, in 1984, Dave Childers joined as a manager in an Indianapolis area location. He moved on to serve as the owner/operator of the French Lick restaurant in 1993. In 2014, Dave was named franchisor upon Bob McDonald’s retirement. Today, the same recipe for success lives on, and Chicago’s Pizza has grown into 15 restaurants across the state of Indiana. Concannon's Pastry Shop was established in 1959 by J. Michael and Wanda Concannon on Charles Street in downtown Muncie, Indiana. In 1978 we built a new facility at 620 N. Walnut Street and moved in. Since then -- thanks to a great response from customers like you -- we have remodeled and added square footage at least four times at that location. In 1978, Michael T. Concannon purchased the business from his parents. Concannon's is truly a rare family business, with the third generation now heavily involved. Marc Concannon is a trained baker and oversees all candy, popcorn and coffee production. We have diversified the bakery to include our gourmet popcorns, our house-roasted coffees and our own line of fine chocolates. In 2009 we opened our Bakery Café at 4801 W. Baker Lane on the north side of Muncie. Like our original shop, it has been enlarged due to customer demand as well. This shop showcases our full line of bakery products and is also home to our deli and coffee bar. We are so appreciate of our many long-time employees who make customer service a priority, and intensely grateful for the loyal customer following.
